Toxoplasma gondii is an intracellular parasite with a complex life cycle that must include cats or other felids. Where there are no felids, there is no toxoplasmosis.1,2  T. gondii may chronically infect many mammals, including humans. It is neurotrophic and has a special affinity for glia.3,4
